Spanish Nationalist Party Vox Condemns Pro-Polisario Exhibition in Cantabria Parliament, Labels Polisario as "Declared Enemy of Spain"

Despite its hostile stance toward Morocco, the Spanish nationalist party Vox has condemned a pro-Polisario exhibition held at the Parliament of Cantabria as “unacceptable,” describing the Polisario Front as a “declared enemy of Spain due to its extreme violence and terrorism.”

In a statement, Vox denounced the glorification of the Polisario, “responsible for the deaths of nearly 300 Spaniards,” recalling that “between 1973 and 1986, the Polisario Front assassinated 289 Spaniards, a figure surpassed only by the terrorist group ETA, through massive shootings of ships, kidnappings, and enforced disappearances, maintaining a campaign of terror against Spain and its interests in the region.”

These episodes of terrorism were deliberately swept under the rug for decades in Spain. However, the Spanish NGO ACAVITE, founded and chaired by the daughter of a victim of Polisario terrorism, continues to preserve the memory of the 300 Spanish civilians—mostly from the Canary Islands—who were victims of Polisario’s terrorism.

This statement comes amid growing controversy over some Spanish entities’ support for the Polisario Front, while Vox highlights the history of violence and terrorism committed by the Polisario against Spain and its people.
