Fez Prepares Healthwise to Host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations

The Regional Directorate of Health and Social Protection of the Fez-Meknes region participated today, Wednesday, December 10, 2025, in a national coordination meeting conducted via videoconference. The meeting was chaired by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection as part of the final preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations football tournament, which Morocco will host from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

The meeting focused on assessing the health readiness levels of the cities and regions scheduled to host matches and teams, including Fez, which will host several fixtures during the continental championship.

Various directorates from the central administration presented framework reports on the organizational, technical, and logistical measures prepared by the ministry. These were followed by detailed presentations from the relevant regional directorates, including the Fez-Meknes Directorate, which reviewed field procedures implemented to ensure comprehensive and effective health coverage throughout the event.

These measures include strengthening medical staff in hospitals and health centers near stadiums and hotels, providing mobile medical units, increasing stocks of medicines and emergency equipment, coordinating rapid response mechanisms for emergencies, along with protocols for infectious disease prevention and health management for large gatherings.

Participants emphasized that these preparations aim to provide the highest standards of health safety for players, official delegations, and the expected spectators, reflecting Morocco’s commitment to delivering an exceptional edition of the continental tournament on all levels, including health and organizational aspects.

Fez is set to be one of six host cities for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations matches, alongside Rabat, Agadir, Casablanca, Marrakech, and Tangier, in a long-awaited continental sporting event following the postponement of the previous edition.
