Rabat – La République de Zambie a réaffirmé jeudi son soutien à l’intégrité territoriale du Royaume du Maroc et à la marocanité du Sahara, saluant l’initiative d’autonomie proposée par le Maroc comme base sérieuse et réaliste pour résoudre le différend régional autour du Sahara marocain.

Rabat – The Republic of Zambia on Thursday reaffirmed its support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara, praising the autonomy initiative proposed by Morocco as the serious and realistic basis for resolving the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.

Cette position a été exprimée dans un communiqué conjoint publié à Rabat à l’issue de discussions entre le ministre marocain des Affaires étrangères, de la Coopération africaine et des Marocains résidant à l’étranger, Nasser Bourita, et le ministre zambien des Affaires étrangères et de la Coopération internationale, Mulambo Haimbe, actuellement en visite de travail au Royaume.

This position was expressed in a joint statement issued in Rabat following talks between Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita and Zambian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mulambo Haimbe, who is currently on a working visit to the Kingdom.

Selon le communiqué, la Zambie a salué l’adoption par le Conseil de sécurité des Nations unies de la résolution 2797 du 31 octobre 2025, qui consacre l’initiative marocaine d’autonomie dans le cadre de la souveraineté du Maroc comme l’unique base sérieuse et crédible permettant d’aboutir à une solution politique durable au différend artificiel autour du Sahara marocain.

According to the statement, Zambia praised the adoption by the United Nations Security Council of Resolution 2797 on October 31, 2025, which endorses the Moroccan autonomy initiative under Moroccan sovereignty as the only serious and credible basis for reaching a lasting political solution to the artificial dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.

Le ministre zambien des Affaires étrangères a également affirmé le soutien de son pays aux efforts des Nations unies visant à parvenir à un règlement politique de ce différend régional, considérant que la proposition marocaine d’autonomie constitue « la solution réaliste et pratique » capable de mettre fin à ce dossier.

The Zambian foreign minister also reaffirmed his country’s support for United Nations efforts aimed at achieving a political settlement to this regional dispute, considering the Moroccan autonomy proposal as “the realistic and practical solution” capable of resolving the issue.

Le responsable zambien a ajouté que l’initiative marocaine représente une approche « constructive et pragmatique » susceptible de contribuer à l’aboutissement d’une solution politique durable et acceptable pour les parties concernées.

The Zambian official added that the Moroccan initiative represents a “constructive and pragmatic” approach capable of contributing to a lasting and mutually acceptable political solution for the concerned parties.

De son côté, Nasser Bourita a salué le développement des relations bilatérales entre le Maroc et la Zambie au cours des dernières années, notamment après l’ouverture de l’ambassade de Zambie à Rabat et de son consulat général à Laâyoune en 2020.

For his part, Nasser Bourita praised the progress achieved in bilateral relations between Morocco and Zambia in recent years, especially following the opening of Zambia’s embassy in Rabat and its consulate general in Laayoune in 2020.
